So I know a big problem I had with the Aspire V5 is the wifi. While the problem did not occur at first, it happened over time. So I applied the general fix of installing the newest driver for the Wifi adapter, which worked at first, but it was not a permanent solution. So after some tinkering with the Adapters properties, I think I've discovered a reliable fix to the Wifi problems related to the Aspire V5

Before you do this tutorial, be sure that you installed the newest driver for the 'Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 Wireless Network Adapter'.

Link to the adapter driver [It takes a while to do and make sure you are connect to the internet through an Ethernet cable in case you run into trouble]. If you do not know how to install driver's, look up a tutorial.

1. right click the wifi symbol (task bar)
2. open network and sharing center
3. select 'change adapter settings' (left hand side menu)
4. right click you wireless adapter (qualcomm atheros)
5. select 'properties'
6. select 'Configure'
7. select the 'Advanced' tab
8. select 802.11b Preamble and select 'Long only' for its value.
9. select AdHoc11n and 'enable' its value.
10. select receive buffers and enter '1' for its value.
11. select Roaming policy and set '1. Very Low' for its value.
12. select transmit buffer and enter '1' for its value.
13. select the 'Power Management' tab
14. make sure there is not a check mark in the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' box
15. select 'OK' at the bottom of the window.

You should be able to connect to most wifi networks now.
If you cannot, experiment with the value's that you changed in this tutorial, especially the '802.11b Preamble' and the Transmit and receive buffers.

I hope this helps those who have the same problems i have.
