I just bought a new v7 and almost out of the box my ping has been fluctuating wildly especially while playing games like dota 2 and LoL. I ran cmd and pinged www.google.com -t and it shows that the normal ping is around 60ms, then every minute or so it spikes to around 300-500ms. I have gone to the network and sharing settings, tried to 'diagnose' the connection, and even changed the dns settings, but the lag spikes still occur. I also tried downloading the latest driver for my network card. Is the network card in my v7 faulty? I am using wifi and my router is a 2wire 2701HGV-E. I have also tried pinging www.google.com simultaneously on another laptop on the same wifi network and there is no spiking. As you can see below my ping is steady at 57-60ms before spiking up to 400ms. This happens every minute or so.
