Hi,

I have got a new Acer E1-571, 64bit Win7, 500G hdd, eRecovery 5.0XX and have a few questions:

1) How to i enable backup to USB drive using eRecovery. My version only allows to DVD-Rom. Can i update my eRecovery software to a version that allows backing up to USB drive?

2) Want to replace my 500G hdd to a 120G SSD. Will eRecovery restoration process from BIOS dynamically migrate to a smaller SSD space? If so, if there any special steps to prepare my new SSD before the migration, format etc?

thanks

Thanks for the clear questions and welcome to the community.

    1) There is no option to enable USB media for eRecovery.

    2) There is a hidden partition on the hard drive which contains all of the recovery data.  It is not contained in BIOS.

There is no easy or supported way to transfer that partition information to a new drive.
