Acer W510 Tablet

When I turn on my Acer W510-1620 Tablet the multi colored display comes up with the correct time. As I swipe from the bottom I find that where it asks for my password instead it has my name and the message “locked”.  If I continue swiping up, the screen goes blank and there is nothing I can do to get it out of this mode. The only thing that tells me that the Tablet is not completely turned off is that when I press the MS logo I hear a normal noise but nothing happens. I connect my recovery disc but it has no effect.

The very first time I had the problem I attached a keyboard and turned the power on.

The Windows Task Mgr came up. I was able to scroll up and down but everything else was not working. Eventually I scrolled it to below the bottom where it disappeared, never to be seen again.

Does anyone know what is the problem or how to restore the system? Can it be the Bios?

I got this refurbished Tablet from Acer but received no system disc with it.

When it displays your name and locked you should be able to click on the name to get a password prompt. If it's been reconfigured for domain use it might want a ctrl-alt-del at that point instead.

Thank you for your reply. I was at a complete loss until I used your suggestion. I hooked up a keyboard and gave it a ctl, alt, del.  I was then allowed to sign in but it still looked the same. It gave me 4 options though: Lock, Switch User, Sign Out and Task Mgr.

By signing out and then signing back in the tablet was now back to normal.

Thank you again you are a life saver.
