Hey! I have an Acer (Aspire S7-391) I don't know why I am unable to turn on wifi on my laptop! I have Windows 8.1 Professional and all the right drivers installed. When I go to troubleshoot problems, they say I should turn on my wifi...I did so using Q+ Fn keys but it didn't help. Can you help me, please? Thanks

I'd start by making sure that your wifi adapter is turned on.

    1. Swipe in from the right of your screen to bring up your Charms Bar
    2. Click Settings
    3. Click the Wireless Connection symbol (of the 6 icons in the lower half of the bar, it is the upper left icon)
    4. Ensure Airplane Mode is off. You should see networks to connect to if there are any available in your vicinity.

Other thing to check would be:

    1. Open Charms Bar again
    2. Click Settings
    3. Click Control Panel
    4. Click Network and Sharing Center
    5. Click Change adapter settings
    6. You should see a Wi-Fi adapter, make sure it doesn't have an X showing that it's disabled. If it is, Right Click and select Enable.

    Hello Acer-Cory,

Thanks a lot for your response! I really see what you suggested but the problem is that I cannot even turn on/off my wifi ( the area is grey)  and it says the wifi is deactivated!

Any chance you could take a picture and share what you're seeing? I'm not sure I've seen a device say it was deactivated.

Thanks, out of curiousity, what happens if you turn Airplain mode off? Does the Wi-Fi setting change? Then turn it back to inactive and see if that makes any difference?

If you don't see a change, lets go to your Charms bar -> Settings -> PC Info -> That will open a new windows, and Click Device Manager. Do you have any bangs (Yellow Trianges w/Exclamation) and open Network Adapters to see if you have any bangs there?

Finally, click on the wifi adapter listed under Network adapters, and Disable/Enable it depending on where it's set.

When I turn Airplane mode off, there's no change even if I reboot my pc. And when I go to device manager, I see no bangs there, the same thing happens when I go to network adapters. When I click on the wifi adapter and disable it, the wifi bar disappears and when I turn it on it turns back to its former state.

Unfortunately, I don't have any more troubleshooting tips, maybe someone else can chime in, but I'd suggest contacting your local support team and look into service options at this point.

Sorry I couldn't help you get this going.
