Problems installing Vista M1641

I am helping a friend re-install Windows Vista on a AM1641-E1712A desktop PC. When we put the disc in the drive it boots up to install and then says

"A required CD/DVD driver device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."

After doing some research I just thought it needed the device drivers for the SATA Controller or Motherboard. The problem is I cannot find the drivers for the M1641 anywhere on the ACER site. I downloaded the closest one I could find, the driver for the M1640 but it didn't work.

1) Does anyone know how to get by this error on the model

2) Does anyone know where I get the drivers for this model on the Acer site?

    Hello techabca,

1- Are you trying to reinstall Windows Vista on a new blank disk?

2- Have you burn the eRecovey DVD in "Default factory"?

I had to purchase the discs for her after the fact as the ones she had would not work. Did one was the vista disk and disk 2 was the drivers/software disc.

    Well, you confirm me:

    - This is not a new blank disk

    - You have the DVD of Acer for this model.

    - Read the user guide of eRecovery Management V2.5

    For information:

    DVD1 is eRecovery Management

DVD2 is Default Factory (windows, drivers, sofwares etc)

You can see this french video (Acer channel) which explain the procedure:

How to restore system with eRecovery DVD

Don't worry, see only the picture!

I'll try  to find this video in english.

The factory disks that came with the computer do not appear to be working. They spin up for a second and then quit.

I had to purchase new disks for this computer and as mentioned

    DISC 1 is the O/S

    DISC 2 is the drivers

I cannot even find this model on the Acer.ca or Acer.com site.

PS: I am a 15+ computer tech, so feel free to offer any suggestion as I am pulling  my hair out.

    Hello,

Desktop Acer Aspire M1641 (Windows Vista 32 or 64, Seven 32 or 64):

Indeed, this model does not exist on the Canadian (FRA or ENG) or American site.

    Strange!

By cons, you will find it on the UK site:

    Drivers and Manuals : Desktop - Aspire - M1641

1- In France, the DVD included with the computer are blanks. The user must burn them.

2- If I understand correctly, you bought it in Canada. Maybe the desktop was imported.

3- In which country did you buy the latest DVD?

4- In the video, they show the procedure for Win7 (3 DVD). The first is eRecovery management.

I wonder if you have the correct version of windows ... incomplete.

5- Have you tried restoring the system from the hidden partition (ALT+F10)? The default password is 6 zeros.
