I was wondering what kind of memory you all purchased for your Aspire V5-573P or Aspire V5-573G if you have successfully gotten it to run at 1600Mhz. You can check your speed using CPU-Z or memtest86+ (it should report around 800Mhz give or take a few).
Sadly, I have had a lot of trouble finding the right memory, and it's frustrating especially since it takes 17 screws to get to the ram.
The soldered on memory is: 1600Mhz 11-11-11-28.
First I got g.skill cas9 1600Mhz 4gb. I just assumed the timings would get dropped to cas11. Sadly, the bios defaulted the speed to 1333Mhz. Since then I've read that you should try to match the ram as much as possible so the bios doesn't go to it's default setting at 1333Mhz. I purchased Crucial 1600Mhz cas11 memory. I noticed that upon first run, it does run at 1600Mhz. However, if I power down the sysytem and restart, it defaults to 1333Mhz. The only way I can get it back to 1600Mhz is by holding a pin to the battery disconnect button/hole on the bottom of the laptop. As long as I don't power the computer down, the ram stays at 1600Mhz (checked with memtest86+ and CPU-Z). Restarting is fine as long as it's not actually powered off. Once it's powered off, it will default 1333Mhz. I'm guessing the bios analyzes the ram switches to it's defaults when the system is powered off? I really wish the bios had options for the memory, it's been a real headache. Any feedback?
Thanks!
