THE HARD DRIVE SHOWS UP IN THE BIOS SCREEN, BUT WHEN I TRY AND LOAD VISTA IT SAYS NO DRIVES AVAILABLE.

IS THERE A SETTING IN THE BIOS I NEED TO CHANGE??

    Hello!

If you haven't changed any BIOS settings, but Windows cannot find the hard drive, then it sounds as if the HDD is at fault. Try removing the drive & attach it (if you can) to another computer to check if you can access the drive. If you cannot, then the hard drive will need replacing.

If you have changed the BIOS settings, then I suggest you restore the settings to default then try again.

You could also try the following,

Connect the hard drive in USB enclosure to a PC, go to disk management, right click the drive, format it and allocate a drive letter and it will be recognised.

Of course, formatting the drive will erase everything on it, so use this as a last resort, just in case you are able to get data from it.

Remember, the most likely reason for it not to be recognised, is it is a faulty drive & must not be relied on!

I have already re-formatted it on a  Windows seven computer. It shows up there so I don't believe the drive is faulty.

I'll try your suggestion about resetting the BIOS to default. Thanks
