I have justbought an S7 - 392 and connecting to an ACER 23 inch monitor (S230HL) using display port -> VGA dongle that came in box. Runs 2nd monitor in 1920x1080 but the text is not sharp, very hard on the eyes, almost looks like an when you run a program and need to turn off display scaling. Will try with different monitors. Tried all settings !

Replied to another post regarding HDMI  ,tried HDMI -> DVI on same monitor and cannot get any signal (black screen), does not seem to recognise in display settings

If you have only 1 external monitor you should use the hdmi output since it is digital and should be somewhat better than the analog vga. I have two external monitors and the one attached to the acer port/vga has poor legibility, so it sounds like your problem. It is worse than i would expect from just the vga inferiority. I presume that the problem is with the acer port or cable, but i am not sure. It is disappointing for a machine of this price.

I wish someone from Acer would monitor these posts to get a definitive answer.

    SOLUTION:

In spite of Acer's unwillingness to say much about the port, it turns out that i ordered a displayport-hdmi cable, plugged it in, and voila, the picture is crystal clear. This must not work for all monitors or all resolutions, otherwise acer would be idiotic for not just calling the port a mini-display port. But it is functioning identically to a mini display port on my monitor, which is just a 1920x1080 display. Since the cable is only about $7, it is worth a gamble for anyone trying to use a second monitor.
