Acer Ultrabook S7-191-6447 external hard drive

I am a new Acer Ultrabook S7-191-6447 user and pretty much of a neophyte on top of that!

 

I just came back from a trip to Israel and bought the Ultrabook for use during the flight and on the trip.

 

I am very satisfied with the computer so far but like all new users, I have a few questions?

 

My first question is about an external hard drive?

 

I bought an USB 3, DVD R/W, Blue Ray external hard drive on Ebay "ODD/HDD ODP1201" Laser KLSSE 1 ( No Mnfctr )

 

and while it works well with all my other computers including Windows 7 USB 2 and Windows 8 USB 2, it will not be recognized on my on my Ultrabook that I upgraded to Windows 8.1?

 

Acer was not very helpful and advised I retro back to Windows 8 ( 3 hour fix ) or to find & download a driver so it will hand shake with Windows 8.1?

 

I haven't been able to find a site to download this driver and was hoping someone could point me in the right

direction to find a driver? I could send it back because I just bought it but Acer couldn't advise me on which products,

if any, would work with Windows 8.1?

 

Any help would be appreciated!
