Should S7 keys be flush with keyboard deck?

I purchased a refurbished Acer Aspire S7-391-6413. The keys at the edges, especially the Ctrl key and the Backspace key, are flush with the keyboard deck. See photos.

I was concerned that the internal system board might be bent or bowed, so I requested a replacement unit. However the new (refurbished) machine has the same issue.

Is it normal for the keys not to protrude from the keyboard deck at the edges?

Thanks,

Mark

I purchased my S7 brand new.  When I look at my keyboard from the same angles as your photos, the top and bottom rows do appear to be flush.   However some of your keys look like they are at an angle, like the right side End key.

But the rest of your keys are at the same height as mine.  They are not quite chicklet style but not as high as a standard laptop either.

sonorous, thank you very much for that feedback. I think the appearance of angle to the Esc key is a photo illusion. I think the keys are pretty much on a plane with each other, with the "deck" bowed slightly up at the ends.

I noticed on the second one, the gap between the base and the screen is a bit wider in the middle than at the sides, like maybe 2mm in the middle and 1mm at the sides. It looks like the "deck" had to be bowed down slightly to fit between the screen hinges. I didn't check this on the first one. Do you see this effect on yours?
