Hi Everyone,

I have the Acer W700 (love it) i tryed to upgrade to Win 8.1 which failed, the tablet then said it will be recovering back to original operating system.  Once the system recovered it seems to be loading Windows 8 back up however all im now gettng is a blank black screen.  I have tried a few options in the recovery console including restoring to a previous recovery point however this did not work.  I have 3 recovery disks but no System DVD - is there anywhere I can download the System DVD from.  thanks for your time.

Regard

J

Are the recovery disks ones you made from your w700 - they should work.  If not, to get a disk with the whole system you would have to call acer support.

There are iso files to make an 8.1 disk but it would not have any Acer provided software.  Search at http://www.eightforums.com/  for threads relating to the 8.1 iso.  newegg.com is selling an 8.1 disk as well, or were a few weeks ago.

Hi thanks for the response - the recovery disks are the ones supplied with the W700.   I dont mind just installing Win 8.0 to begin with.  Spoke Acer Support they said they dont have any Smiley Sad andcannot provide me link - they did however book an appointment for me - which can take a couple weeks in total Smiley Sad

Do you get the opportunity to go into safe mode?  Might be able to figure out what is wrong if it boots to that.  Not sure what the hotkey is on your unit.  Guessing delete or f8 or f10 or f1.  Of course you need an external keyboard for that.

Two weeks, you could reinstall 8 and try again a few times in that length of time :-)  Manufactuers service is getting to be absolutely terrible, not only Acer - Lenovo is worse, you can't get service out of them - lots of promised phone calls that are never to arrive etc.
