I have an ACER ASPIRE X1420 desktop with an AMD Athlon II X4 645 processor, running 64-bit Windows 7. It's a small form factor case with 2 SATA ports - 1 for the HD, 1 for an optical drive. The HD that came with the system is very small and I want to swap it out with a 3TB Seagate Barracuda. Now, I understand that 64-bit Win 7 should have no trouble recognizing the drive as a second drive, but in order for the drive to be bootable, the BIOS needs to be UEFI. And I don't know how to tell if my BIOS is UEFI or whether it is strictly Legacy. I can tell that it is American Megatrends Inc. P01-B4 11/04/2011. But that's about as far as I can go. Computer Management shows a SYSTEM RESERVED partition of 100MB that's Healthy (System, Active, Primary Partition). It does NOT say UEFI/EFI. Does anyone know if the BIOS is UEFI or strictly Legacy?
