Acer Aspire 5552-7474 (Win7) Cannot restore from recovery disks

Ok, my 2 year old Aspire had a run-in with a virus (Cidox I think) which resulted in the Black Screen - Missing Operating System error.

Having failed to make the recovery disks, I ordered a replacement set from Acer.  (System disk, 3-Recovery disks, Language disk).

I've tried three times to restore the system, but each time it fails, going back to the BS-MOS error.

Each time, the system runs through the recovery procedure and finishes all three recovery disks.  It then asks for the system disk again, then the language disk.  While in the update system stage (about 11%) the software reports that the restoration is complete and reboots the system.

The laptop reboots and returns to the BS-MOS error.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

have you try to completely wipe all partitions and then recover?

Not yet.  It doesn't seem to give me that option.  One choice is recover to laptop to factory specs, but it wants me to delete everything on c: first.

yes recover will remove all data from drive to start system over again like new from factory

so back up data you need first
