Made "Factory Default Backup DVDs" so NOW what???!!!

Hello,

I'm trying to restore my Acer laptop to factory defaults.  I went through all of the steps to make a set of four DVDs to restore the laptop to factory defaults.

I restarted the computer with the DVD in the DVD drive...and nothing happened, it just went to the windows welcome screen.

I shut down the computer completely.  Then restarted it...and the same as above.

I shut down and restarted completely again and explored the DVD in windows...there's not even a setup.exe file or anything like that, so autoplay really can't do anything.

So I'm sitting here with my Factory Default Backup DVDs  OK, how do I use them to restore to factory default???

Thank you,

Jerry

    Hi Jerry

You may need to change the boot order on your laptop. It is set to boot from hard drive as default.

Start up your PC, and when you see the Acer logo, press F12 - this will take you to the boot menu. From here, select your optical drive. Your laptop will now boot from your first recovery disk.

If you want to permanently have the optical drive as first boot, you will need to change the setting in BIOS by pressing F2 when you see the logo, then changing the settings in the "Boot" tab.

the other option is press alt+F10 during the acer start screen to run the factory restore from the restore partition on the hard drive.
