have been having problems with the windows(7) updates from ms-keep  getting failure  mesg--finally got a tech at ms and was told that my manufacturer (acer) had blocked my copy--have never seen such a problem with multiple versions of widows with multiple manufacturers--anyone ever have such a problem or is it acer  messing with me?

Dennis, I'm not sure that I understand you. Is your laptop using its original operating system?

 

Yes, your computer MIGHT be blocking an update that it recognizes as harmful. Certain hardware wil foul up with certain updates, and your computer might be rejecting the update. Remember that an update is a good idea MOST of the time, but not all of the time.

yes -this is the original system but the ms windows updated are a problem--ms says ACER blocked my copy--so i cant update--whats with acer?

Dennis, if Acer blocked the updates, it recognized a hardware problem. By the way, whenever MS can't explain a Windows foul-up, they blame the manufacturer. If your computer is working well, and your Windows oerating system can't accept Windows updates, the problem is with MS.

 

What AV are you running? That might be blocking it.

My Acer Aspire won,t update  at all, Thanks I,ll do what you said JH1.I am going to MS teck center and then Acer.
