W510 takes over 4 minutes to restart or start after shutdown.

Hi

I am having a restart issue.  When I press restart, it takes a few seconds (about 10 - 15) for screen to go blank.  Then it stays blank for 3 to 4 minutes; before I get the green Acer logo.

Similar thing happens while starting after a shutdown.  When I press the power button, nothing happens for 3 to 4 minutes and then I get the green ACER logo.

The startup time after the logo comes on is super fast.  Tablet works ok when it is on.  I have tried disabling the fast boot option.  Re-enabling it and then disabling multiple times.  nothing works.

The only thing I did is to remove some of the default installed applications.  Any help is appreciated.

If taking a long time before the Acer spash screen, that is the BIOS trying something and failing, possibly another boot device (have a CD attached with a boot CD innit ?) it is not Windows because it has not begun to load yet. When you see the corcle of moving dots, that is when Windows begins.

    Padgett,

Reading your posts it looks like you have had the same problems as me with the w510 and booting from usb devices.  Did you ever get booting from the recovery media working? or figure out how to do a recovery.

I've tried using a powered hub,  making a bootable usb of the system disk... in those cases it just locks up at startup...  probably bios failing.    If i plug the dvd directly into the unit it just ignores it and boots to the internal drive.

I've kinda run out of things to try, wondering if you found a solution.
