Aspire M1100-B1410A & Large Hard Drives

I own an Aspire M1100-B1410A that I am going to use as a file server for our network. Since the computer came with a hard drive that wouldn't be useful for that purpose, I'm looking at a few new drives to install. I would like to get a larger capacity drive and I'm looking at a few over 2 TB.

My question is, with this model computer, can I use a 3 TB drive? I know some motherboards are limited to 2 TB drives, but I don't know how to tell if mine is limited in this fashion.

Please bear in mind, I am not changing the boot drive, which will remain the same. The 3 TB drive will be a data drive only.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Liebo

I admit defeat! I've searched for info on your mobo (which is an Acer F690GVM) but I cannot find out about the maximum hard drive capacity of that board. Hopefully, one of the Acer Techs may be able to answer your question!

I can only make a suggestion, if you already have the 3TB drive try it, to see if it is recognised. If you've not yet bought one, then perhaps you could buy two 2TB drives & connect them instead - plus the advantage of the extra 1TB!
