My new V5-552PG-X469 vs identical "X809"

Hi all,

So I am typing this on my brand new, half-day old Acer Ultra-thin!  I have bought me an Acer Aspire V5-552PG-X469 ... long plenty long stories that no one sure to care about... anyway.  I got an amazing deal @ $679 flat to my door.  It features an AMD A10-5757M "Richland" 2.5 GHz Turbo'able to 3.5 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 1TB HDD, AMD Radeon 8750M Graphics, 15.6" Touchscreen, et. al.

However, there is a model much more popular online, in many more stores and sites etc, with similar but different #, V5-552PG-X809 ... now I couldn't tell you the first thing about Acer lines or model #s, I didn't even know/realize I was buying an Ultra Thin until after I ordered it ... so if there is a code in the V5-552PG-X469 / X809 i don't know it.  I DO KNOW, However, that I called Acer customer service and asked the gentleman what the difference is, because they are looking identical to me but they have different prices, 1-200+ which is a big difference.  The guy said, I agree with you, they are 100% identical in specs I Cannot tell you any difference, if you got the X469 and got it for 679 you got a greal deal.

I ask you all, what am I missing here?  My father claims it's a Best Buy scheme, they like to have products they sell to be identical but given specific and different model #s, this way you can search for their products and they can sell you on , "NO ONE has THIS EXACT MODEL and THIS PRICE, " because the rest of the world has different model #s on the same products.

Anybody?

Thanks!!

    Hi tAKticool!

I agree - both models seem IDENTICAL! I've checked the spec sheets for both on the Acer website, and I can't tell them apart!

It must be that the one is a dealer special...

    Hey there,

First off thank you very much for both your time & research into my question and of course your reply!

I thought I had to be missing something ... and as I said I called Acer, and even the guy was like, I agree with you, they look identical to me.... (But not that I don't trust Acer or have any reason to mistrust that particular guy, sometimes you wonder if they weren't just reassuring me in my purchase).

The really funny thing is I found both of them located right next to each other on Acer's page (man they have a ton of sub-models... just the V5 page alone went on forever).

Anyway at this point it makes no difference I guess ... I have the laptop, I own it, it's been in my possession for 24 hours... I'm using it etc.

I was really just afraid that the X809 (which is more expensive on just about everywhere..) was going to have say a better graphics card, higher processor, some stat I didn't take into account or pay attention to etc.  I am very happy to have the X469 and @ $679 *to my door in one day shipping* I think i cleaned house in this deal.
