Aspire R7-571 Sound Issue

Hey guys, I have an aspire r7-571 that was recently updated to windows 8.1 unwillingly. For some reason, the sound has completely pooped out on me. I've tried all I could think of, and have updated the BIOS, chipset, and the audio driver for 8.1 64. The sound manager says that no audio devices are installed. When I tried to install drivers from WinSxS, it said there was an audio device, but that it was disabled, but I couldn't mess with it at all from the sound manager. With every restart, the new Realtek Windows 8.1 driver seems to mess itself up, or uninstall itself. Trying to install the driver from device manager only resulted in a "Windows found the software but encountered a problem" error. I'm just trying to get the audio to work, and it's not willing to cooperate. Been at it for hours now, what can I do? Any and all answers are appreciated, thanks.

If loading the new drivers didn't fix it, you may need to recover the system back to Windows 8, then try the update again. I'm assuming you were not having any sound issues with Windows 8 before the upgrade? Maybe someone can answer what audio driver they have had success with in Windows 8.1, to see if that would help.

Hey, Man, the same thing happened to me! The kids installed Windows 8.1 on my Windows 8 laptop and fouled up everything. That's because 8.1 erased all my drivers and I was running on generic drivers.

I'll assume that you're set up to automatically install new updates and drivers. You can also go to IObit.com and install their free driver finder--it found seven drivers that Windows missed on one of my computers.

Time is on your side. As new drivers, designed for 8.1 come out, your machine will steadily run better. I had ten days of nightmares before mine ran well again. But it runs well now.
