My Aspire X3950 is seen as X5950 by Windows. My X3950 has been crashing repeatedly and Windows updates have not been very helpful. Isn't it possible that Windows is installing X5950 drivers for my X3950 and so making my computer unstatble. How do I make Windows to see my computer as X3950? Help!

    Hi kodi!

When you say it crashes repeatedly, do you receive any error messages or does the computer just freeze?

If you're definitely sure you have the X3950, I suppose your PC may have been fitted with the X5950 mobo. It may well be the exact same mobo, but with a different BIOS. To be honest I've not heard of this before, but anything is possible!

Go to the BIOS settings & see what the mobo reports as to which model you have. If it reports as a X5950, you could try to install the X5950 drivers to see if it helps, but just make sure you backup EVERYTHING beforehand, and be prepared to reinstall Windows from scratch, incase things go wrong...!
