I can power on but Acer logo screen appears, the Smiley Sad apology screen, then automatic repair screen then back to Acer screen. Forever! I've tried a USB bootable stick and cannot get beyond Safe Mode windows load. All options lead to BSOD. How can I get to some DOS prompt to flash my bios from a USB? Blessings on those who help the needy...

    Hi Leader99

See here on how to make a Windows 8 Recovery (Repair) disk or even a USB version. You will need a working Windows 8 PC though - ask if a friend or family member can help. This will allow you to boot to Command Prompt.

    Hope this helps!

SOLVED.. I was able to get into the BIOS with F2 and discovered the Graphic setting was "switchable", so I changed it to "integrated" . Problem solved. Boot went ahead normally.

I now see only one graphics device listed in in Device Manager whereas before it seemed two devices had been loading even before this issue arose. So, somehow, I had loaded more drivers than needed and the BIOS switch needed to block the. Wrong one.
