did you try a windows update or an acer update if those two didn't work then you might have to try a factory reset.

in order to do a factory reset click on the windows logo in the bottom left hand corner and search for restore and select Restore your computer to an earlier time and then click on Advanced recovery methods and then click on Return your computer to factory condition.

Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers and see if your webcam is shown. Then go to

Device Manager > Imaging devices > open the sub menu > right click Properties, then

look at the top of the window for Power Management. Click that open and see if there

is a check mark in the box that " Allows computer to shut off device to save power".

If so uncheck the box, close that menu, go to DRIVER and then "update driver".

If a mgs comes back stating the newest driver is already installed, close all windows,

and reboot. See if the camera works. You didn't post the model num, so we don't know

where to steer you in case you need to reload the driver from Acer's support site.

I have an Acer Aspire 4820TG and the same problem. The webcam seems to be disabled, I can't find it in the device manager. When I try to reinstall the webcam application from the acer website, it says that I have no webcam. I tried what you said, but under Imaging devices in the device manager I have only "USB video device" and nothing more, and can't find power management nowhere. Can anything be done apart from a factory reset?

    Thanks

I just checked one of my laptops with a camera and found the under device manger,

imaging devices, left click, up comes Acer Crystal Eye. I right click it and the menu

comes up with General, Details, and Driver. You're right, no power management or

advance menu. I believe it is a hardware prob. Did you go to Control panel > Devices

and Printers and see if the camera is shown ? Have you downloaded Acer Crystal Eye

software to see if that will activate the camera ?

This is for Acer Crystal Eye with the Chicony camera

This is for Acer Crystal Eye with the Suyin camera.

There is also a Lite On driver listed for your unit, but I don't believe

you have a Lite On web camera. You have to discover what camera you have.

You can take it apart and pull the camera board out at the top of the screen

and see what kind it is, or load both drivers and both Acer Crystal drivers

open and install, reboot and see if new hardware is detected. If all works

you will see it in the start menu, device manager, and or Devices and Printers.

    I hope this helps.
