Hi All!
Just 10 month ago my daughter bought this Acer Aspire V5-531 and have for some time now (approx. couple of month)
having problems with the battery.
Messages such as "Battery not found" (with PSU-adapter connected),
"Remaining capacity unknown" (with PSU-adapter unplugged),
"Plugged in and charging" (with PSU-adapter connected) but the battery-LED is blinking orange and a red cross
over an empty battery icon, has been seen.
Now the Notebook can only run on battery 5 - 10 min before shuting down.
The aspire V5-5 Quick Guide is not 100% clear on status of the Power Indicator LED or Battery Indicator LED.
If the Notebook is power off and PSU-adapter connected I would expect the Power Indicator to be lit. It is not!
When the PSU-adapter is connected (and battery in place) the Quick Guide states "Charging: The light is
amber when the battery is charging" - what does it mean when the LED is blinking amber (orange)?
This is not explained in the Quick Guide or the Aspire User's Manual.
When the battery LED is blinking does this indicate that the charging circuit (main board) is faulty?
I have searched Acer Support site, found and tried various suggestions (among these):
http://acer-scandic.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3023
Battery LED Orange and Blinking Document ID: 3023
But performing a static discharge of mainboard did not change the status.
The battery LED is still blinking Amber/orange and it seems that the battery is not getting charged.
I have tried replacing the battery with a factory new (Acer) - still the same.
I'm considering trying to update BIOS but I do not think this will help as it seems that the battery
is not charging when the notebook is in power off state.
Can anyone comment / suggest a solution?
