Dual Monitors - G236HL resolution incorrect during autodetection in docking station

I'm having an issue with auto detection in a dual screen setup when my laptop is docked. The right hand monitor detects with a lower resolution. This monitor is also connected via a VGA cable rather than a HDMI cable.

I have dual HP monitors at work and have no issue with auto detection but when I dock at home the right hand (vga connected) monitor does not detect the correct resolution. One difference here is the work setup does not have a KVM attached. It's probably the KVM that's causing the issue but I need to force my way around it if possible.

I'd like to force the correct resolution in the registry if possible.

Hardware:

Lenovo T500 laptop w/ Radion HD 3650 graphics card

Two Lenovo G236HL monitors - left monitor via HDMI, right monitor via VGA

Belkin KVM

when you put KVM in between it makes problems

Acer not be able to 'force' resolution on monitor

if it works at work why not redo set up at work ?
