Acer Aspire V3-772G-747a8G75Makk
Windows 8.1

The computer originally had Windows 8 installed. I upgraded without making a system backup stick.

My problem:

I want to use a USB-MIDI interface (from Bespeco.it) in a USB2 slot, but it gives me seemingly random data when I enter MIDI data at the other end.

According to the manufacturer (Bespeco), the interface and its driver work without any problem with USB2 and Windows 8.1.

The interface works perfectly on another computer using Windows 7.

Originally, I made the mistake of plugging the interface into an USB3 slot, and since then nothing I can do will convince Windows that the interface is plugged into a USB2 slot. The windows problem handling program always fails to remedy the situation with the message (originally in German) "Problem cannot be solved".

I have tried everything I can think of: Completely uninstalling the driver, and even restoring the system back to a date before I plugged the interface into USB3 slot (which appeared to correct the Registry).

I think that restoring the system may have been done incompletely. It restores to Windows 8.1, when I think it should have restored to Windows 8.

What else can I do?
