I just bought a 1 TB external hard drive (Acer 2.5 Slim External HDD), and I want to use it as a network storage with my router that has a USB port.  How do I go about doing that?

I'm currently running XP on my home office desktop which is the hardwired comp for my family's netbook, laptop, ipad, iphones, blu-ray, and whatever else comes into the house!  :-)

The model of router is a DLink DIR 628.

Thank you for your help,

Will

The USB port on the router is most likely used to connect to a computer when an ethernet or WiFi device is not available, and does not work with external hard drives unless it explicity states so.  More information on the subject would be available from the router manufacturer.
