I just bought a brand new Aspire E 17 and experienced this automatic adjustable brightne-774ss whici is really annoying because it dims by steps instead of progressively.

After having playing everywhere possible, with no result... here what worked for me.

    My material configuration :

    Aspire 17 E5-774G-582T

Windows 10 home edition version 1067

Intel (R) HD Graphics 620 + NVIDIA GeForce 940MX (on graphics cards section in the devices manager, in the Windows Settings)

Right-click on the Windows desktop (everywhere except on an icon :-) )

Select "intel graphics settings" (sorry I have a french version, so perhaps the text is different, translated by myself)

Select the Power (or Battery) button.

    Select "On Battery" section.

Select "Maximal performances" on both fields possible

and deactivate the option "power saving technology used by screens" (or again something ressemble at that)

I put the "french version" of this window.

It worked for me. Hope this will help more Acer customers.

I found this same solution after googling. DISABLE "Display Power Saving Technology" from intel graphic.

It worked but sometimes it still happen when i am using battery.
