Iconia A500 - randomly dropping internet connection

I've had this Acer Iconia A500 for some time. I love this little tablet and never had a problem since the purchase. However, over the last 2 weeks, it started dropping the internet connection randomly -"No Internet Connection". I can be in the same room as the router and it loses connection even with a strong signal. Meanwhile all of my other devices are still connected to Wifi. Turning off and on the tablet does not work. In order to reset the connection, I have to maually power off the router and power back on. Needless to say it is very aggravating to do this 10 times a day. I do not want to reset to factory settings and lose all my apps and saved docs and programs. I am using android 4.0.3.  Is anyone else having this probelm and have you found a resolution?

 

If the worse case scenario is that I have to live with it, I won't. I will upgrade to a Galaxy and swear off Acer permanently. Help!!

That does sound aggravating.

 

There are two sides to look at when attempting to troubleshoot an issue: software and hardware.

 

The easiest of the two to eliminate is usually the software side.  This is easily accomplished by reloading the system.

This would require you to back up your data, of course.  The nice thing about Android is it is relatively easy to get installed apps back on the system.

 

The other side is hardware, which I would not be able to do anything about on the Community.  You would need to talk to your local Acer technical support to set up a repair if you have a hardware failure.

 

If the card has been working without issue for an extended period of time and suddenly has problems, you can eliminate the software, but if it still occurs, it is likely a hardware issue.
