Hello,

I have a problem with my Acer Aspire 5741G. My OS is Windows 7 64-bit and I want to run in XP mode. The processor supports virtualization(I have Core i5 Intel) but the BIOS wouldn't let me turn the hardware virtualization on. I installed the latest BIOS version available for my Acer - but it was no different then the older one.

What should I do? I don't want to risk with a suspicious modified BIOS.

Please, let me know if anyone has a solution for this problem.

Regards

There is no BIOS option to enable hardware virtualization.

Have you checked to see whether it is already enabled by default or not?

Yes, I've checked that tool. Unfortunately, it says that hardware-assisted virtualization is NOT enabled on my computer.

I have tried to find the specifications for your model and all I can determine is that it may have been produced with a number of different i5 CPUs.
Which exact CPU do you have?

    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 430 @ 2.27GHz

It appears your CPU is Ok.

The other major concern is whether your chipset supports it or not.

To be honest, I can think of no reason why Acer would not implement it if all required hardware was present. (I don't have a switch for it in my Acer BIOS but it is enabled.)

I can only suggest that you contact Acer support and ask them why it is not enabled on your 5741G.

Yes, it could be the chipset. Thanks for the advices!
