R7 SSD cache drive... Is it working with 8.1?

After upgrading to windows 8.1, how to I make sure the cache drive is working?
I'm not sure I understand how it works and how it is setup.

For instance, if I was to re-install windows from scratch, how do you set that 24gb SSD as a cache drive?
Is it just another HDD, but something in software that utilizes it for caching, or is there something as far as hardware that accomplishes this?

I seem to notice after the 8.1 update, the computer doesnt boot up quite as fast, and I just wanna make sure it didnt do anything to the cache drive setup.

Windows 8.1 takes about 10s on my R7 as opposed to 5s on Windows 8.

To my knowledge, I can tell you as a computer guy,

The SSD / Hard Drive hybrid is fully handled on the hardware level.  Windows has no control over it.

However, I was surprised to see that my Acer R7 did in fact have two drivers loaded for my hybrid drive... which seems to challenge what I just said.

    WD 5000LPVX-22V0TT0

    and

    KINGSTON SMS151S324G

    What problem are you having?

This is not a hybrid technology drive whereas the SSD is on the disk, this is two separate disks one HD and on mSATA SSD, to find out if it is working do the following:

    1) Rightclick CMD.EXE and select "Run as administrator"

    2) CD C:\Program Files\Condusiv Technologies\ExpressCache

    3) run "ECCmd.exe -info" without quotes

    Here is my output:

    C:\Program Files\Condusiv Technologies\ExpressCache>ECCmd.exe -info

I must assume that getting an output means it's working?  What would happen if it wasn't?

Also, I have purchased a 256GB mSATA drive to replce the 24GB one in my R7-571 but I can't find anyone else that has already done it, so I don't know if I can just swap them out, or do I need to clone the partitions on the original to the new one first?  I was too much of a coward to try just swapping them and seeing what happned.
