W500 Failed Touch Update

Has anyone successfully recovered from a failed W500 Touch firmware attempt?  There are a couple mentions of it on here, but the most promising was taken private by an Acer rep.

I've restored the software fromthe factory disks, but don't have any touch features.

Thanks!

It would help if you could link directly to the thread in question.

Are you having a specific error or problem?

    Hi -

Yes, I had a failed touch firmware install to correct the touch firmware problem for the W500.  I restored the computer from the original disks, but I have to touch capability and the firmware installer won't let me try again.

    Thanks for responding :-)

You PM'd me without being asked to do so.  I get a LOT of private messages from users.

I really only can deal with those that I ask for, mostly because I need a certain set of information in order to be able to assist anyone that way.

I'll go find your PM and reply to it.

    BUMP.

I know there is a solution for this problem.  A previous user gave Tommy a kudo for his help, but the solution is not posted on here.

I'm in and out of touch with another very helpful ACER tech guy, but no solution yet.  I've reloaded from the factory disks, installed the KB that needs to precede the firmware flash to solve the well-known touch issue.

Over 100 views now - does this ring a bell in anyone's head?  The tablet is pretty useless without touch.

Thanks!  If I get it solved I'll post back.

The "help" I gave the previous user was exactly the same help you have recieved.

    Contact with technical support.

The options are to get the firmware update installed, or bring the unit it for service.

    "Thanks" for your "help."

To the Acer User's Community...does this touch firmware update problem ring any bells with anyone?  I had a very helpful tech (not Tommy) attempt to help me fix the issue, but I remain without any touch on my W500 after a failed attempt at solving the factory problem where the cursor jumps to the lower right corner.  Detail in the OP.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

    Thanks.............
