V5-552G Recent Win 8.1 BIOS / reformatting to stock settings

Hey guys, last I posted was regarding a previous BIOS being available for my notebook which people said to hold out from. Now I saw that there is a recent BIOS release for Win 8.1 and was wondering what is the significance of this BIOS? Should I install it? It seems people are cautious in running new BIOS since it can result in a bad flash and will brick the notebook.

 

Another thing is that after Win 8.1, I've been experiencing random freezing from my system and a lot of failed Windows Updates. I was wondering if doing a full refresh from recovery will do something. Will it revert my system to Windows 8? And any other V5-552G users have any other experience with random freezing? No errors pop up. System fan sounds are the same.

 

Anyone else experiencing also failed Windows Updates? My last failed udpate was when it failed to restart which ran for like 1hr for one update which I then manually shut down.

If you are not having issues with the current BIOS / UEFI, please do not attempt to flash the BIOS.

 

 

If you restore the system to factory, it will indeed revert back to the shipping operating system, Windows 8.

 

It also sounds like you are having a number of issues with Windows 8.1, including getting updates.

 

You can reupgrade to Windows 8.1 after restoring the system.
