Hi my name is Pat, I have an Acer Aspire with With Windows XP. Ever since I have owned it, about 3 or 4 years, I never could turn up the volume. Can any one hellp with this? I tried the normal way over and over but no good.

    Hi Pat!

When you say you can't turn up the volume, do you mean there is no sound at all on your XP machine, or do you mean there IS sound, but you have no way of adjusting it?

Is the volume icon available in the system tray (near the clock)?

Post back with a little more info, and I'll see if I can help further!

Thank you so much. There is sound but so low that even with ear buds I can't make it out. Yes it does have the icon near the clock and it is turned all the way up and also the advanced controls areall turned all the way up. Thanks again I appreciate your help.  Pat

    Hi Pat

    Try the following:

    1. Try updating your sound card drivers. Go to device manager, right click your sound device and click "Update Driver". If there is one available it will download and install. You can also check out the Acer support site.

    2. Buy a new PCI sound card and connect that inside your computer in an available slot.

    3. Buy some decent amplified speakers.

Hopefully, one of the above will help!
