Upgrade memory to 8GB for Aspire 5552-7474

I am trying to upgrade the memory in my Aspire 5552-7474 from 4GB (2x2GB) to 8GB (2x4GB) which is the max memory supported.  I have purchased PNY memory -  8GB (2x4GB, DDR3, PC3-8500, 1066MHz SODIMM) twice and each time the notebook won't boot up.  It gives a "Windows failed to start..." error and when trying to start normally the first time it gives the blue screen of death.  I put back in the original 4GB (2x2GB) DIMMs and it works fine.  I called PNY and they couldn't help.  Does anyone know if there a compatiblilty problem with PNY memory and this notebook?  If so, what memory would work?  Thanks.

    Hi ang74!

It may be because the RAM is the incorrect type or even faulty. Go to Crucial.com and download its scanner. This will tell you exactly the type of RAM you need, and will recommend some for you.

Their customer service is great too, if you order the wrong type, they will happily except it back!
