I thought I had updated the BIOS on this computer when I first got it, but apparently not. BIOSVersion/Date is AcerV1.13, 10/9/12. I attempted to update to BIOS 2.06, when I ran the program it said to upgrade to 2.04. Downloaded 2.04, it gives me an error message saying to update to the same type of BIOS (v1.x). Not sure where to go from here. Running Windows 7, Model is Aspire V3-571 6602. Thanks in advance.

    I think we should leave the BIOs alone unless we really have to update it.

    Until I see revision notes on each verson, I don't think it's nessesary to update the BIOs.

    Problem is an user can't update from 1.x bios to 2.x bios with the downloaded bios update. Its shows: "Please update to the same type of bios (v.1.x)".

    To avoid this detection, we have to hex-edit a bit. Smiley Wink

    Open the bios update application with your favorite hex editor and locate the following:

    DisableSecureCapsuleFlash=1

    Change it as follows:

    DisableSecureCapsuleFlash=0

    Save the changes. You can now update to 2.x using this modded bios. Flash from DOS or Windows.

    work on my acer aspire v3-551

    I would like to make sure that everyone understands that this is not a recommended procedure and unsupported by Acer.

    There is no reason to update a Windows 7 system with a v1.x BIOS to a v2.x UEFI.

    It will only complicate matters when attempting to boot or change things in BIOS/UEFI.

    Also understand that any issues encountered when attempting this requiring Acer intervention would be outside normal warranty coverage.
