Hello,

My daughter recieved a Acer Aspire One D270-1375 for a student assistance course, after she completed the course the laptop was unlocked so that she could use the laptop for writting documents and doing online research.

I wanted to make a few changes for her but I need access to the bios, which just so happens to be password protected. I contacted the program that offered the laptop and they were rather clueless and suggested I contact the manufacture.

After chatting with a "Gnaneswar M" via online support I was informed that I could take it too a local computer repair place and they might be able to do it or send the laptop to an acer repair center, and the service fee is $99 + shipping + taxes.

My buddy runs a computer repair store so I dropped off the computer for him to, he informed me that it was simple to reset by removing the laptop battery, so I left it with him and he removed the battery and the next day reconnected it, unfortuninately removing the battery did not reset the password. He had talked about erasing the eeprom but isn't very familiar with acer laptops, suggesting I contact acer.

I cannot afford sending the laptop to acer, so as a long shot I was hoping that perhaps the acer community could offer some alternative suggestions.

Thank you for your time.

Charles
