Track Pad settings on Aspire V5

I would appreciate help with adjusting the settings on my Aspire V5 track pad.  The problem is that it is overly sensitive and has too many features.  I tend to rest my thumbs on the track pad when using it and all manner of strange behaviors are occurring.  Zooming in, tabs deleting, etc.  It's working exactly as designed, my fingers are just too clumsy to use all these features.

I would like to dumb it down to just the fundamentals - left and right click and drag/drop.  The other features are unnecessary (in my world) and are just causing me time and effort to correct whenever they accidently occur.

I'm using windows 8.1 and can't find anything that resembles a track pad settings screen in the control panel nor in the search feature.

If you could help me though this it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The options available to you will depend on the specific system and touchpad installed on the system.

Generally, this is the process that you would follow:

    1. Go into Control Panel
    2. In Control Panel, double click on Mouse
    3. In Mouse Properties, you will want to select the ELAN or Synaptics tab.
    4. From that tab, you should be able to see an Options button, this provides you with the Advanced Options for the device.
    5. There are multiple settings that you may wish to enable or disable from within this panel:
      • Example: Multi-finger tab - Zooming, Scrolling, Rotation, Four finger swipe

    I hope that helps.
