Iconia W510 WIndows 8.1 Camera Issue

Has anyone else with a W510 had issues with the rear camera since updating to 8.1? I have the usual sleep/display/graphics driver problem which I can work around by disabling the graphics driver most of the time, but I also have this camera issue too.

It seems that there is only one way to get rid of the little blue camera light which wants to be permanently on. Also, without resorting to previous drivers, the camera app doesn't respond at all.

I've downloaded the latest driver pack from Acer (dated 29 Oct) and I've installed everything so my system is up-to-date (although I'm still tinkering with graphics drivers to try and resolve the sleep issue, but this seems to have no effect on the camera).

With driver version 6.2.9200.34861 the device manager is showing an error for "Camera Sensor OV8830" which says, "STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE". The blue light is on permanently.

I have uninstaled the driver and scanned for hardware changes, which reinstalled the older version of the driver, which seemed to fix the issue, but when I load the camera app I only have access ot the front facing camera.

Is anyone else enocuntering these issues?

I never use the rear camera anyway, so it's not a big deal. It's just another driver issue.

We have just updated the driver package for Windows 8.1 on the W510 series.

Please try this driver package and let us know how it works for you.

We have 90 of these machines some bought with the express purpose of being able to use the camera facility.

With Windows 8.1 the rear camera does not work and the blue light is on permanently.

We have tried the new BIOS and re-installed the machine with the latest drivers all to no avail.

This looks like a driver problem.

This is yet another issue with these machines amongst a host of others.

Come on ACER give us a product that works
