Acer Aspire 7720G Black Screen - Hardware not detected

Hi

I have an Acer Aspire 7720G, Was losing the image mid use and could retrieve it using Fn F5 or F6 for a while but that now stopped.

I get a good picture on an external monitor - Video Card therefore OK,

one resent occasion out of 20 boot-ups I did get a normal image on screen (at same time as external), LCD OK, backlight OK, Inverter OK. Now nothing.

I don't think the computer is detecting that the screen hardware is present. Could this be an issue with the cable?

or Could it be that there is a lid closed detect switch which is stuck preventing the screen coming on? If there is a switch, Where is it located?

In display settings it only sees the external generic VGA as the only and default monitor, cannot toggle between.

Please help!

It does sound like you are having an LCD issue, but I'm not able to diagnose the hardware from this Community.

Your best option would be to use an external monitor (if the system seldom moves) or to seek your local Acer service center for assistance with repairs.
