A notebook Aspire E1 531 2892 was purchased in August 2012. After a short car journey to a friends house we found the screen to have internal damage. A work order to send the product in for repair was opened once received by acer an email was sent back informing us that the issuse was not covered by the warranty due to user misuse and could be repaired for $199 US plus tax. Hence to say it was not repaired. I'm sorry but laptops/notebooks should be designed and built to withstand travelling after all thats why we don't carry our desktops with us. The outer casing or the actual screen does not show any damage or mistreatment, it is an internal problem of which acer does not want to either admitt there is an issuse, fix nor replace. I do not expect any out come from this other than to warn people to upgrade your warranty packages or look for a better product other than acer. To say I am dissapointed with all aspects of acer is an understatement. I do have 3 other acer products that are due to be replaced in the spring sorry acer but I won't be using your products to do so.

While we do understand your concern with the product and its ability to withstand physical pressure to the screen, our products are designed to be sturdy and withstand normal usage and wear and tear.  It is ultimately the users responsibility to ensure the system is kept protected from environmental factors that can cause damage to the device.  When traveling many people choose to secure their notebook in a protective bag or case to prevent unwanted damage to the item.  We do also offer a total notebook protection warranty that covers accidental damage such as cracked LCD's and liquid damage.
