S7-392 won't boot from USB

I am having no luck booting a windows 8 USB install drive.    I have tried in Sata modes raid and ahci, with and without secure boot, and in UEFI and legacy modes.   In all cases, the drive is simply not recognized.

I have tried to create the USB drive using the Windows 7 DVD-USB creator utility.   This formats the drive as an ntfs file system.   Which, from what I have read doesn't play well with UEFI.   I have also tried to create the Win 8 install usb with Rufus.   This route also does not work.

Last week, I was able to boot a Ubuntu install usb only after I wiped out the Raid partitions and booted in legacy mode.   Surely there is another way to get a Win 8 usb stick to boot on this machine.

The system ships with Windows 8 pre-installed.

Can you explain what you are attempting to do or what has occured with the system?

    Sorry this is rather late...

If you create your USB install drive using FAT32 instead of NTFS then it should boot to the drive using the F12 boot menu.  You also need to put the Intel RAID drivers on your USB drive so when you get to the part in the install process about where to install (and Windows fails to find the RAID array), you can select a non-visible partition and load the drivers.

    Then the install should work.
