Hi, I'm Tracy. My acer aspire sparked at the power jack when I plugged it in and now it won't turn on and the battery won't charge. Has anyone else ever had this happen. I really am mostly concerned about getting my data back. I mean, I'd love it if I could make it work too, but my data.....oh, all of my data.....:-(

  • If  the laptop shows no signs of life, it may be that your psu has failed.

If this is the case, you could be lucky and find that your laptop has not suffered harm and you simply need to obtain a replacement.

If the psu has a fuse then have that checked. If you have a test meter you can also test the output voltage.

If it should prove faulty, ensure that you replace with a compatible one having the same voltage (and polarity) and that the amperage is >= (never lower).

Should the psu test ok then you would need to seek professional help as the laptop condition cannot be determined without taking it apart.

LOL.....where did I pick up the taco?

  • That's 'pot luck' when you register.

You can change it to something more to your taste! Smiley LOL
