I purchased a S220HQL Acer monitor and the display on it frequently, but briefly, cuts out. The instances of this issue are erratic, but when it does happen, it will "blink" black for a second or half-second every 10 seconds or so. Sometimes I can go hours without seeing any issues though. I have also observed that it seems have an increased chance to happen or blinks more rapidly when browsing certain websites like youtube or imageboards or playing certain games. On rare occasions, I have seen the message "input not supported", but for the most part the screen just cuts to black for a brief moment, but can happen very often. (As I type this, my display is cutting out for a second once every ~10-15 seconds)
Currently my system is like:
Windows 8 Pro 64bit OS
Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti GPU
S220HQL Acer Monitor connected via Dvi
The monitor is connectred to my computer I built myself through a DVI cable. My previous monitor did not have these issues and this monitor seemed to work fine when plugged into a different computer (with the same cable.)
Things I have tried are:
Update my drivers
Plug the monitor into a seperate computer (it worked fine)
Try my old monitor on this computer (also worked fine for its advanced age)
Chat with the Acer website's live tech support chat, who told me to try the things above, but then said they couldnt help me, leaving me. Guessed it might be a compatibility issue.
Does anyone have a clue what might be causing this, and if I can do anything about it? This issue ranges from annoying to near unusable at times.
(Edit) Trying to go to manually go to the 'run' program through the windows 8 start menu caused the display to cut out for as long as I remained in the start menu nearly all the times I tried. Going to look into solutions related to windows 8 while I wait for a response.
