SecureBoot Message Problem after upgrading WIndows to 8.1

After having updated my bios to the latest version, I upgraded my Windows 8 to 8.1 through the Store Application.

After completing the whole process

a watermark message "Windows 8.1 SecureBoot isn't configured correctly" Build 9600" sits on the bottom right of my desktop.

The solutions regarding any changes to my bios setup don't work. I don't know what to do and its really annoying.

MODEL: ACER ASPIRE V7 481P

Thank everyone in advance

After updating to Windows 8.1 a watermark message "Windows 8.1 SecureBoot isn't configured correctly" Build 9600" sits on the bottom right of my desktop.

MODEL: ACER Aspire S3-391 (Computer was factory installed with Windows 8)

Is this going to stop my machine from working properly?

I also have the same problem with the same  model Aspire V7-481P which I downloaded from the microsoft store. I see Acer has the 8.1 upgrade on their web site and wonder if if would  install without the message(tweaked for Acer ?). (I rolled my PC back to windows 8 until this gets figured out by the gurus) Too chicken to try Acers download until I know for sure the message won't haunt me again...agree it is annoying

ycpath and all others with this problem i too have updated windows and i got the same watermark but i found the solution

you have to go to your bios and set a supervisor password so that you can edit more settings then you have to go to boot

and set secure boot enabled then reset secure boot settings to factory default on the same tab as were you set the supervisor password. if you now start windows you will see no watermark.

    Thanks a lot Grombie.

Your solution worked for me too.

I hope Acer will pick up this bit of information and make that visible for users. I am sure there are plenty of people facing this issue after win 8.1 upgrade.

I also upgraded two thinkpads, they went without a hitch.

Same with E1-571 laptop. Acer tech referred me to Microsoft but they hadn't got a clue either.

Same problem on a V5-471 Aspire, bought with Windows 8.0.

Upgraded via Windows Store. Got the watermark, searched Technet and found this:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn441535.aspx

Went into BIOS (F2 as the PC boots) but cannot move up and down the Security settings page so cannot change any passwords. Never set any in the first place so guess this is locked by ACER in some way.

So what do I do now?

Having re-read Grombie's post I went back and set a supervisor password, this did indeed allow me to move down the page.

So I went to the BOOT page and found secure boot was already enabled. I disabled it, went back to the security page and found I could not reset secure boot to default as suggested.

    I rebooted - still have a watermark.

I rebooted again, enabled secure boot and then went and reset secure boot to default.

I rebooted and STILL have the watermark.

I have another option to delete all secure boot data which I am loathe to try as when I got this PC it had to go back to the factory TWICE. Once to actually get it working and a second time to activate Windows as I could not do it. The Key is in the BIOS so if I erase these secure boot data I might not be able to use the PC or Windows mich become deactivated again.

Please Mr Acer Support, tell me what I must do to get rid of this bloody watermark that is obscuring my desktop. Robot Frustrated
