Acer Aspire M5-581t Display Issue

This issue started about maybe a day or two after i recieved the laptop. The screen blacks out at random, but there is still a light on, just black. If I hook up my hdmi to the laptop while this is happening, i can see the display perfectly on my tv. Or if i just shut the screen(put it to sleep) than reopen it, it usually is fixed for the time being. Anybody care to help?

*Edit- OS is Windows 7

    Hi Ogre

You may have a loose connection on your laptop. Does moving the screen backwards & forwards several times have any effect?

If your laptop is still under warranty, then contact Acer's support.

ill test out moving the hinges when it accurs again. It is still under warentee, which I could probably easily send it in to be fixed, but im trying to avoid doing that. I tried calling customer service, and explained to the lady that it happend at random and it would still work through hdmi. She had me restart my computer and open the bios. After I got it open she tried telling me that becuase the problem isnt accuring, it is the software, and tried making me do a factory reset. I do not wish to lose my files on my laptop, so I eventually told her goodbye, and hung up.

While typing this, it accured again. I tried moving the screen, which had no affect whatsoever. But, I did do something with success.

I hooked up my hdmi cord while the laptop's screen is black. I than clicked fn+f5, and went to where it shows dvi and hdmi in a box. both screens blacked out, than my tv was the only one that was working, and my laptop's screen's blacklight went out. I than pressed fn+f5 a few more times and went to where it shows dvi and hdmi in a box linked to the laptop. My tv screen blacked out, and than both screens went on.

Got any other ideas of how to fix, besides sending in laptop or doing restoring it to factory?

Ogre, I advise you to take it back to the store where you bought it. Resolving this problem is not your responsibility with a brand-new laptop.

Im thinking im going to have to do something, more than likely talk to acer about my warenty. But I'd still have to go without it for im assuming about 2 weeks or so. Im on my laptop a lot already, and i have a lot of stuff on it that id rather not lose. So before sending it in, I still would rather look for other options.

I agree with Vince53. I think it would be best to return it, but you won't loose anything if you back up your data to a USB memory stick/hard drive or even burn it to disk.

I can't think of any other options other than using an external monitor - not ideal at all!
