I don't know all that much about computers. But I have another virus on my ACER laptop. On a previous virus I resolved the problem by ordering some system restore disks online through ACER. I still have the disks but no instructions. Can I reuse these disks to remove the current virus? Also is there somewhere I can find the instructions on how to use the disks? I would really appreciate the help. I'm a college student so I dont have money to bring it in to a shop to have it removed. thanks

    Hi steve!

Does your anti virus software not remove your virus, or has it been left in an unusable condition?

In answer to your question, yes - the recovery disks will restore your computer to the day you first used it.

Insert the first disk in your laptop, restart and select your boot options menu when you see the Acer logo and select your optical drive as first boot.

If you have no boot option menu, then select your setup (BIOS) and in the Boot tab, change the boot order to DVD/CD drive. Press F10 to save. Your laptop will then boot from your optical drive.

The Acer eRecovery process will restore Windows on your laptop. Follow all the on screen instructions, select the option to "Restore operating system to factory defaults". This will wipe your hard drive, so make sure you've backed up all your documents etc. You will be asked to insert any other disks. When finished, your laptop will boot into Windows.

Don't forget all the Windows updates, your anti virus & anti malware software too.
