Iconic A500, touch screen slow to respond, error messages "not responding" etc etc

tried searching thru the forum for an answer, no luck.. maybe I'm not looking properly.

So, it started a while ago, the three icons at the bottom left instead of turn ' white' when touched they turn blue and arereally slow to respond. I also get "browser not responding" error continually, with wait, report or (can't remember the thjrd one). I didnt think anything of it until a friend said her was doing the same !! Also, when trying to type something it does not respond for a good 30 seconds after you have started, then it freezes up... Has anyone else had this experience and how can it be fixed...
