I have screwed up my computer by installing windows 8.1 and everything gone.  No keyboard anymore, Acer ring, etc.  I just want the darn thing back to the way it was.  there is no go back or restore available and the don't send a set of disks, even though I have a portable drive that would work, if there was a such thing as backup disks available.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Do I have to send this thing back to the manufacturer, is ther a vendor out there that does this service, etc.

    Hi JHRolfe

When you say "there is no go back or restore available" do you mean there is no recovery partition ("eRecovery")? If you re-start your machine & on the Acer logo press ALT & F10 - this should take you into the eRecovery mode where you can restore your computer as new.

If your keyboard has stopped working, see if you can borrow someone's USB keyboard, and try from there.

If all else fails, then yes, you may need to send it for repair. Chat with Acer for your region, by going to the website, click "support" then "contact Acer".

    Good luck!

    Hi,

I presume that you are using windows 8 Operating System. The issue may be with the power plan.

Try these steps, it may help in fixing the issue.

Press windows key + X ==> Power Options.

Change Plan Settings==> Change Advanced Power Settings==> Expand Wireless Adapter Setting.

Click on On battery and Select Maximum Performance from the Drop Down Menu.

    Save the changes.

    Thanks

    Rakesh
