Acer H226HQL bid

I would have placed this on the monitor page as a review or comment if I could have found any way to do such a thing.

I just recently purchased this monitor after days and weeks of research on the various makers and models. I have to say that as far as I am concerned they have created a nearly perfect monitor for my needs. Polished front surface with no "anti glare" to fuzz up and distort text and images, no PWM in the backlight and good viewing angles... better horizontally than vertically.

But the one failure in the design is the 60 Hz vertical sync (refresh) maximum rate. This is apparent when scrolling text on websites and such where you can see the monitor gradually "catch up" to the scroll. Even a vertical rate of 70 Hz would virtually completely solve this.

I'm very likely keeping this one because it looks better than many others I checked, but I will always wish for that 70 Hz.

No worries - these forums usually revolve around tech-support, so it's nice to see a review here and there (though, might wanna add 'Review' in the title, if at all possible)...and an odd realization that Acer themselves don't support some sort of user-review/comment system on their store.

As far your predicament - the H series of Acer monitors is part of their 'Everyday' lineup, which is still fairly high quality, but as 59-60Hz is the standard, you likely won't see many high-performance specs from such a reasonable monitor. Also, thanks for the info concerning the glossy screen - personally, been trying to figure out some sort of standard as far as Acer is concerned...

I agree, this monitor is an absolute gem. I also did a lot of research into finding a monitor which was ips, glossy and did not use pwm to control the backlight. A rare combination it would seem, the Dell 'S' series is simular but they have problems with overshoot on fast moving objects/scenes.

The colours really do pop on this monitor, as if they were painted on the screen. I put this down do the glossy surface and ips combo. I have virtually no backlight bleed on mine and could only really notice ips glow from extreme angles. Another pleasant suprise was how well the monitor handled motion after i tested with pixperan. I have conneted my 360 and have been playing KOF13 recently, the vibrancy and colour is amazing it really shows the game how it was intended to be, a world apart from my previous monitor.

There are a few things I would like to see integrated on the OSD side of things, there is no gamma control and there are only three colour presets: Warm, Cool and User which by default is set the same as warm. If would have been nice to have a more neutral colour preset as not everyone has the equipment or keen eye to calibrate themselves. Also I would like to have seem an audio out/headphone socket for when a hdmi device is connected.

I hope Acer can strive to make all of there monitor range pwm free as I understand the h22 is unique in this respect. A large part of the market is in the 23/24 inch sector so it would be great to offer pwm free models in those sizes. Not only that but it should be something that is strongly advertised in the specs, like Benq is doing with its current lineup.

If anyone would like to share there prefered colour/calibration settings I would be interested to see them.

The Warm setting (and thus also the User default) might not be all that warm. It's hard to tell what the "color temperature" is. It does appear to be warmer than the default with the fluorescent backlit monitors I've used, but it might not be any or much warmer than high noon. I haven't fiddled much with it, but I did turn the Blue up to 60 and that gives some of the cheerful tinge.

Just to let you know that I had the same problem too with the 60Hz refresh rate. It was giving me headaches. Anyway, I managed to overclock the monitor's refresh rate to 75Hz @ 1080p resolution using EVGA Pixel Clock OC. It makes a huge difference trust me!

I do have another problem though.. the image is still not as clear as I expected for a native 1080p screen.. but maybe it's just me. I also disabled Scaling from the NVIDIA Control Panel which has slightly improved the image quality. Currently I'm using HDMI but I will also try hooking it up using a DVI-D cable.

EDIT: Connected via DVI-D cable, the colours stand out more and the blacks are more black. Using the HDMI cable the screen looks like it has been passed through a grey filter.

I should also mention that I managed to open a more detailed menu using these steps:

1. Turn off the monitor by pressing the power button (6th button) located at the underside of the monitor.

2. Press and hold the (1st) leftmost monitor button and then press and hold the power button. Both buttons should be held at the same time until the monitor starts up.

3. Now press the 3rd button from the left twice.

4. Press the 4th button once and then press the 3rd button again.

5. Voila!

Hi, can you tell me if VCOM value is default VCOM value or you change it? if you change it, can you tell me what was VCOM value before you change it?

All guys with H226HQL please help me, i only need VCOM values, please someone open the advanced menu how nathanzahra say and tell me VCOM values. Is verry easy to open advanced menu, you most turn of monitor and press and hold 5-6 second first and last button, after that you most navigate and when you navigate at F pres enter and advanced menu apear, after that look at vcom and tell me what number is, that is all what i want to know, after you tell me that go down and press exit.

Please help.
